Mike Tyson was one of the main attractions in the heavy weight division of the boxing world. The illustrious champion Mike Tyson had a very peculiar life and boxing career. Although Mike Tyson has lots of money, he also has lots of problems, in other words, more money more problems. However, Mike Tyson's legacies will standout forever. Therefore, this article will be a brief biographical sketch of Mike Tyson’s life and boxing career.

Tyson and His Family

Michael Gerald Tyson is the champion’s full government name. His date of birth is June 30, 1966. Additionally, he is a native son of Brooklyn, New York. Mike Tyson also had two siblings named Rodney and Denise, in addition, his parents where named Jimmy Kirkpatrick and Lorna Smith Tyson. Apparently, Mike Tyson faced adversity throughout his adolescent, adult, and boxing career. The adversity started when his dad walk out on his mom and children when Mike Tyson was little led. In addition, his sister died of a heart attack in her early twenties. Additionally, Mike Tyson’s mother died leaving Cus D’Amato as his legal guardian.

Mike and His Beginning

Evidently, Mike Tyson had an itch for boxing so he started training with manager/trainer Cus D’Amato at the age of sixteen. Cus D’Amato immediately recognized the potential Michael Gerald Tyson. He had what it took to be the world heavy weight champion some day. However, Mike Tyson learned his boxing skill when he was in the juvenile detention center where he was tutored by Bobby Stewart who was an amateur boxing champion. Cus D’Amato also predicted that Mike Tyson would be the world heavy weight boxing champion before he was 21 and it was true.

Junior Years

Nevertheless, Cus D’Amato had full custody of Mike Tyson in 1980 where he fought as an amateur. In 1982 Mike Tyson competed in the Junior Olympic. The young star Mike Tyson displayed amazing innate knock out abilities. Hence, he held the record for the fastest knock out in the Junior Olympic with time of eight seconds.

In fact, Mike Tyson won all of his bouts by knock out as an amateur fighter. However, Mike Tyson did not win the Junior Olympic he lost to Henry Tillman by decision twice.

Shortly thereafter, Mike Tyson had his pro debut in 1985 where he knocked out Hector Mercedes in the first round. Mike Tyson fought 15 times his first year as a professional. Moreover, in the same year 1985 Cus D’amato died. Mike Tyson’s boxing career was flourishing as he won his first 28 fights 26 of them coming by way Knock out.

In 1986, Mike Tyson became the heavy weight champion of the world. He held the record of being the youngest heavy weight to win a world title previously held by Floyd Patterson. Mike Tyson had reached the pentacle of his boxing career. However, the young champion career started to fall apart.

Mike Tyson was married and divorced in 1988 to 1989, additionally; he suffered a stunning upset loss to Buster Douglass in Tokyo. Mike Tyson also was convicted for a rape charge in 1992. However, Mike Tyson will still be known as one of boxing greatest.
